    Plumbing Facts

    • Erie County's Plumbing Program is now in effect. (September 1st 2006)
    • Jurisdiction of this office has been granted by The Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Industrial Compliance to permit and inspect all commercial or residential properties, new construction, additions and major renovations. This pertains to all of Erie County with the exceptions of the City's of Sandusky and Vermilion.
    • Permits are required before work is started.
    • All contractors engaged in the business of plumbing with-in Erie County must register with this office.
    • Homeowners may if they chose, obtain a permit and perform work on their property. Homeowners are not required to register with this office.
    • All work must be inspected before it can be covered either by earthworks, concrete, drywall etc.
    • All work performed will be in compliance with the Ohio Plumbing Code 2005 edition.
    • The Goal of this program is not to police every minor repair or fixture replacement with-in the county, but to insure public health and safety through established codes as set forth by the State of Ohio.
