Real Estate Surveys
The Erie County Health Department offers inspections (surveys) of household sewage treatment systems and private water systems upon request from property owners, real estate agents, potential buyers and financial lending institutions. It is this department’s intent to provide an independent, impartial evaluation to ensure that each system does not pose a hazard or public health nuisance.
Sewage surveys consist of an on-site inspection that includes locating the system and evaluating it’s performance.
Private water surveys include an on site inspection and water sample that is analyzed for total coliform and e-coli bacteria.
A written report will be sent to the requestor documenting conditions observed during each survey.
